Jemma Redgrave stars as a mother who fears her son may be following in the footsteps of his dad – a serial killer – in new thriller Like Father, Like Son. Robson Green, Phil Davis and Tara Fitzgerald co-star in this gritty two-part drama from the creative team behind Monarch of the Glen, Amnesia and the award-winning film Mrs Brown.
Life for Dee Stanton (Jemma Redgrave) seems to be improving at every turn. Her legal career is blossoming and her love life takes a leap forward when her boyfriend, teacher Dominic (Robson Green) unexpectedly proposes to her. It's a far cry from 11 years ago when her husband Paul (Phil Davis) was jailed for life for the brutal murders of four young women. Hounded from her home, Dee was forced to reinvent herself with her son Jamie (Somerset Prew).
But Dee's newfound happiness is threatened when the now 15-year-old Jamie is accused of stalking provocative sixth former Morag (Georgia Moffett) and discovers the truth about his dad. He demands to see him and there is an immediate bond between them. Then Morag is found strangled. Could Jamie be falling under his father's spell?
Producer Jeremy Gwilt says: "Like Father, Like Son examines a mother's fear as she begins to suspect that the son she adores has become a vicious killer like his father. Will nature prove stronger than nurture or is prejudice going to condemn Jamie anyway? The project was developed for Jemma Redgrave and this demanding role showcases her considerable talents. And I'm also delighted to have Robson Green playing what is, for him, a very different role. His character, a teacher, is suspected of murder and an inappropriate relationship with one of his sixth form students. I'm sure the performances of our great cast combined with Shaun's terrific script will have wide appeal."
