Part 1 - Monday 24 January 2005
Yesterday evening Robson Green hit the spot with ITV1 viewers in new two-part thriller Like Father, Like Son - his second hit drama for the broadcaster in a little over a month, following December's Christmas Lights, reported The Guardian. Robson played a teacher, the romantic interest for Jemma Redgrave's trainee lawyer and single mother, whose son may or may not be following in his father's murderous footsteps. The first part of Like Father, Like Son was watched by 8.2 million viewers and attracted a 34% audience share between 9pm and 10.30pm.
It attracted double the audience of BBC1 documentary Not My Fault I'm Fat, which was watched by 4.1 million viewers.
Part 2 - Tuesday 25 January
Robson Green extended his winning streak in ITV dramas last night, with the concluding part of thriller Like Father, Like Son, in which he starred alongside Jemma Redgrave, attracting more than 7 million viewers. Like Father, Like Son is Green's second ITV hit in little more than a month, following December's Christmas Lights, after a relatively barren period for the actor in ratings terms.
The ITV two-parter concluded with 7.4 million viewers and a 32% audience share between 9pm and 10.30pm, according to unofficial overnights. On Monday night, the opening episode of Like Father, Like Son was watched by 8.2 million viewers. Last month December Lights, a festive comedy drama in which Green and Mark Benton played two friends, workmates and neighbours - who fall out over a competition to see who has the best neon decorations on their house - brought more than 10 million viewers to ITV.
The success of Like Father, Like Son last night put a dent in the ratings for documentaries on BBC1 and BBC2.
